About Charminar

Charminar is a 16th-century mosque located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is a place of historical importance with the mosque on the top floor.  At that time, people were able to see the entire city of Hyderabad from the top of Charminar.

The then ruler- Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah pledged before God that he would build a mosque if he helps to eradicate cholera, that was ravaging his city. His prayer for his people’s well being was answered and thus we see the Charminar.

Makkah Masjid

The Makkah mosque was also built by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah. People believe that the central arch of the mosque is made from soil imported from the city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It took 77 years and 8000 workers to build the Makkah Masjid in Hyderabad.
