Mood Indigo is the signature cultural fest of Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. It is also Asia’s largest college cultural festival. As the year 2018 edition of Mood I says- A montage of dreams, the stage is all set to a spectacular event and uncountable memories.

From timeless art to a night long music, Mood Indigo has everything for every body’s interest. It is also a launchpad for artists of different genres. So, here is the information to help you plan your visit to Mood Indigo 2018.

Who can attend the Mood Indigo 2018?

As Mood Indigo is a college cultural fest, only students can participate in this event. You will need to register for the event with your valid college ID. After submitting the basic educational details, you will be given a unique ID, which would be cross-checked with your college ID when you first enter the event.

Registration for Mood Indigo is very simple and the event is open to all educational backgrounds.

How to reach IIT Bombay for Mood Indigo Cultural Fest?

Reaching Mumbai is no jargon. Mumbai is a well-connected city via road, train, and airways.

Reaching Mumbai by air

Mumbai is very well connected with domestic and international cities by air. Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport is about 30 kilometers from the city center and takes about 1-1.5 hours to reach by taxi or local train.

Reaching Mumbai by train

Most students from different parts of India travel by train to attend this festival.

There are two important railheads in Mumbai – Mumbai central and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST). If you are traveling from central, east, or west zones of India you will arrive at CST. If you are traveling from the north Indian region, you will arrive at Mumbai central railway station.

To reach IIT Bombay or your stay from either of these stations, you can choose rickshaw or taxi/cab.

Please note, if you are new to Mumbai and haven’t boarded the local train before, please don’t experiment Mumbai local train ride without the city resident’s assistance. Especially during office hours from 08:30 AM to 10:30 AM and 05:30 PM to 08:30 PM, boarding Mumbai local train for newcomers is a big NO.

If you are based in or studying in neighboring states of Maharashtra, a road trip is equally convenient and economical.

Buses from different states arrive at Mumbai central bus stand. You can also travel by outstation cabs.

Pro tip: If you wish to travel by train, book your tickets as soon you register for the fest. Students from all over the country come to attend this fest and getting tickets could be tricky closer to the event dates.

What are good places to visit near IIT Bombay?

Mumbai is a happening city. You can stroll around VT (Victoria Terminus) station or South Bombay, see the British era buildings, and spend time along the soothing breeze of marine drive.

You can also hop on to fashion street, Colaba Causeway for heartful shopping at a penny price. Mood Indigo 2018 is a four days festival and you can spare a day from your Mumbai trip to visit Essel World and the Water Kingdom.

What is the fee for attending Mood Indigo?

There is no fee for attending Mood Indigo. However, there are individual paid tickets for attending concerts and certain workshops. Most of the competitions and workshops are free of cost.

If you are opting on-campus mood indigo accommodation, there could be a nominal charge associated.

Where to stay?

IIT Bombay tries to provide accommodation to the maximum number of students within the campus premises. But, the gathering is always greater than the space available. Hence, students get on-campus accommodation on the first-come-first-serve basis.

If you don’t get a stay on campus, don’t worry. There are several affordable stay options in Mumbai. You can check Oyorooms, Airbnb, and other hotel booking sites. We strongly recommend staying at Powai area, which is closest from IIT Bombay.
