East Champaran is an administrative district in the state of Bihar in India. The district headquarters are located at Motihari. According to the 2011 census East Champaran district has a population of 5,082,868. Gandak, Burhi Gandak and Baghmati are important rivers flowing through this region.Motihari is connected with Muzaffarpur, Lucknow,and Kathmandu by National Highway 28. Bus services are available to Muzaffarpur, Patna, Darbhanga, Kathmandu , Ranchi, Jamshedpur.Languages include Bhojpuri, a tongue in the Bihari language group with almost 40 000 000 speakers, written in both the Devanagari and Kaithi scripts as well as urdu language also Urdu.
