Bhuj: The people<\/span><\/h2>\n

Bhuj is, of course, a historic town with centuries-old buildings. But, if we dive deep into the history, the region was originally inhabited by the <\/span>N\u0101ga<\/span><\/a> chieftains. Bhujanga was the last Naga chief and is worshipped as a Snake God. That is why snakes are still reverend to this community. <\/span><\/p>\n

The present-day Bhuj was founded in the year 1510 by <\/span>Rao Hamir<\/b>. Majority of the residents follow Gujarati culture, although their practices still incorporate traditional habits.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bhuj has survived two massive earthquakes- one in the year 1819 and the second in 2001. Although, the town has regained its peace and the lives are restored to normal, still many monuments speak of the fact.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bhuj: The food<\/span><\/h2>\n

The food in Bhuj is called as <\/span>Pakwan<\/b>, which again means dishes itself. One of the famous food of Bhuj is <\/span>Kutchi Dabeli<\/b>. It is a sweet and tangy bread preparation with tens of spices and chutneys.<\/span><\/p>\n

The town serves a variety of Gujarati dish in its platter, but with a slight Kutchi variation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bhuj: The craftsmanship<\/span><\/h2>\n

Bhuj presents the traditional craftsmanship of bandhni (tie-dye), embroidery, and leatherwork. Artists from the neighboring villages also bring their craft for sale in the iconic \u201c<\/span>Bhuj haat<\/b>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
