The iconic Ajmer Sharif Dargah, also known as Dargah Sharif is located in the Ajmer district of the Rajasthan state of India. The shrine is the maqbara (holy grave) of the reverend saint- Moinuddin Chisti. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Sufi saint <\/span>Moinuddin Chisti<\/span><\/a> is known as \u201cGharib Nawaz,\u201d meaning the benefactor of the poor. It is a wishful shrine and people from across the world visit this Dargah to seek solutions to their problems.<\/span><\/p>\n

About Ajmer Sharif Dargah<\/span><\/h2>\n

Dargah Sharif stands on the foot of the Taragarh Hills. The Mosque complex comprises of many white marble buildings and a massive gate donated by the Nizam of Hyderabad. Within the premise, lies Akbari Mosque, built by Mughal emperor Akbar\u2019s grandson Shah Jahan.<\/span><\/p>\n

People believe that Akbar and his wife visited the Dargah every year on foot when they prayed for a son. Even today, Ajmer is a cultural centric destination. About 150,000 pilgrims visit the Shrine every day and many covers the journey on foot.<\/span><\/p>\n

The present-day Ajmer Sharif Dargah is an international <\/span>waqf <\/span><\/i>(endowment), managed under the Dargah Khwaja Saheb Act, 1955 of Government of India.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within 5 minutes walking distance lies the Adhai Din ka Jhonpra Mosque. It is one of the oldest mosques in India built in 1192 CE during the reign of Muhammad Ghori. The name of the mosque i.e. \u201cAdhai Din ka Jhonpra\u201d means the shed of two and a half day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Some people also believe that this mosque was built in two and a half days and hence the name.<\/span><\/p>\n
