What is Jodhpur famous for?

  • Gangaur: It is a festival when women pray to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for the healthy and long life of her family. Women take out processions, keep fast and it is wonderful to see them in colorful attire, red being primary. The festival usually falls in the month of March, according to Hindu calendar.
  • Marwar Mahotsav: This festival commemorates the warriors of Rajasthan. It is a 2-3 days event in the month of September/October. The venue for the celebration is usually Umaid Bhawan Palace, Mandore, and Mehrangarh Fort.
  • Nagaur fair: it is the second biggest fair in India and continues for 7 to 8 days.  It is also known as cattle fair because the main agenda of the fair is cattle trading from nearby villages. It is held usually in the month of January/February.
  • World Sacred Spirit Festival: This event is a spiritual and cultural trail of Rajasthan and stages the folklore. You can know more about this festival here.
