How to reach Karwar

Karwar Beach

Karwar is a beautiful coastal town in the Karnataka state of India. With the blue Arabian Sea to its west and evergreen Sahyadri forest to its east, Karwar is a great place for eco-tourism.

Also known as the Kashmir of Karnataka, Karwar town was built by the British during 1857. Here are the possible routes to reach Karwar.

Reaching Karwar via airways

There is no direct airport in Karwar. The nearest airport from Karwar is the Dabolim airport of Goa, which is 58 kilometers away. You can easily get a cab from Dabolim airport to Karwar.

Alternatively, you can land at the Hubli airport of Karnataka. It is located at the Hubli city, about 121 kilometers away from Karwar. Again, you can book an intercity cab between Hubli and Karwar.

Reaching Karwar via railways

There are regular trains to Karwar from many major cities of India. Karwar actually has three railway stations viz Karwar, Asnoti, and Harwada railway station. Each of these stations is approachable from the city. From the railway station, you can reach your stay by local transport like auto-rickshaw.

Reaching Karwar via road

The road route to Karwar is well connected with the major towns of the state. You can board government-run buses or private tour buses to reach Karwar.

You can also enjoy riding a private cab in Karwar and you won’t regret the scenic coastal views. Also, you can rent a car with driver for your entire trip and hop around beautiful South Goa, Gokarna, and Kumta.

Please note, Karwar has a hot climate during the months between March and May (temperature rises up to 37 degrees), although the coastal breeze is soothing. It is a great and comparatively less crowded tourist place for a peaceful vacation.

Itanagar is the capital city of the Arunachal Pradesh state of India. Often less spoken from the tourism point of view, this city is definitely an offbeat location to spend your vacations.

Let us now discuss the possible routes and travel options to reach Itanagar.

Reaching Itanagar via air

There is no direct airport at present in Itanagar. The proposed airport is under construction and offers limited operation.

You can avail helicopter services from Guwahati to Naharlagun region of Itanagar.

Alternatively, you can board a flight to Jorhat, Assam and land at Rowriah Airport, which is about 70 kilometers far from Itanagar. This airport connects the major cities of India via regular flights.

From Jorhat airport, you can easily get a taxi to take you to your destination.

Reaching Itanagar via railways

Despite being a capital city, there is no railway connectivity in the city. The nearest railway station from Itanagar is at Naharlagun, which is about 11 kilometers far. The next closest station is Gumto railway station at a distance of 19 kilometers from Itanagar.

From Naharlagun railway station, you can book a private taxi to reach Itanagar.

Reaching Itanagar via road

Traveling to Itanagar on road is the most convenient option. The journey is full of natural beauty and scenic landscapes. There are regular government buses connecting the city to other parts of the country.

You can also choose to self-drive or ride a private taxi to reach Itanagar.
